In today's edition: Free parking downtown, Music for the Matanzas TONIGHT, Dracula Ballet, & more St. Augustine news that matters

Good Morning, St. Augustine!

I’m James and this is the Old City Lowdown - a local newsletter that’s mooching power and internet from the sister- and brother-in-law (shoutout Bri & Wes for the hospitality).

Apologies for the late newsletter today as our “HQ” is still without power following Hurricane Milton. The last 36hrs have been a bit of a fire drill, but it was important to me to get this edition out before you clock out on Friday afternoon.

First, I hope you all are well following the storm this week. Wishing you a quick and easy cleanup, if any at all. And if you’re like me still without power, I hope those lights turn back on for you soon.

Secondly, I wanted to urge each of you to get out and support our small businesses this weekend if you are able to do so. Whether any of them incurred damage or not, many of them were closed for multiple days, losing out on a ton of vital revenue - especially during the slow season.

Please, please, please support the folks that make this town so special! Perhaps I’ll see you out and about over the weekend!

In today’s edition:

  • Free Parking Downtown! 🅿️

  • Music for the Matanzas TONIGHT 🎶

  • Tons of free live music all weekend 🎸

Thanks so much for subscribing - I truly appreciate it. Now, let’s get to the Lowdown.

🅿️ Free Parking in St. Augustine this weekend!

The City of St. Augustine is suspending parking fees at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility and city-metered areas through the weekend. On Monday, October 14, fees will resume at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility but remain waived in metered areas due to Columbus Day. Parking enforcement resumes citywide on October 15.

All the more reason to get out and support local businesses this weekend!
