🚛 More on the trashy situation in St. Johns County

St. Johns County Director of Public Works, Greg Caldwell, provided a fourth video update regarding the FCC Environmental contract on Monday evening. I wrote 258 words on the situation Friday, so I’ll keep it short[er] for you today.

• FCC failed to significantly improve their service during the aforementioned seven-day cure period allowed in the agreement with SJC.

• St. Johns County continues to provide supplemental service by utilizing county Public Works crews to make trash, recycling, and yard waste collections that FCC has missed - and the county will be seeking reimbursement from FCC for the expense.

• According to Caldwell, 3,000 homes in total were missed by FCC on Thursday and Friday of last week (days 6 and 7 of the cure period).

• FCC requested an extended cure period, which was denied by the County Commission.

• The county will begin the RFP process to find an interim, supplemental contractor to pick up the slack - also to be reimbursed by FCC Environmental.

• The Board of County Commissioners will discuss the situation today, with the possibility of terminating the agreement being a likely outcome.

⛺️ DLP Capital acquires Vilano parcels for RV park

St. Augustine based DLP Capital Partners plans to develop Ocean Club RV Park on 37.88 acres in Vilano Beach after acquiring the land for $15.03 million in early August. The site is the former home of the Beachcomber Outdoor Resort.

🍝 Saint aiming for late-2024 completion

Jeff McCusker and Bob Fleckenstein, partners in River Restaurant Group, have found success with River & Post and River & Fort. Now, they're bringing a new venture, Saint, to St. Augustine, slated to open by year-end. This upscale casual seafood and steak restaurant will offer over 400 seats, both indoor and outdoor, in a prime bayfront location at 44 Avenida Menendez. With experience in St. Augustine’s market, McCusker is confident The Saint will appeal to both locals and tourists, offering a high-quality dining experience. McCusker hints that this won’t be his last project. (Jacksonville Business Journal)
