🩸 Florida Non-Profit Needs Our Help

A cyberattack has disrupted operations at OneBlood, a nonprofit blood donation center based in Orlando, serving over 350 hospitals across four states. The ransomware attack targeted their software system, and the organization is working with cybersecurity experts and authorities to address the breach. Despite the challenges, OneBlood continues to collect and distribute blood, albeit at reduced capacity, and urges eligible donors to make appointments to help replenish supplies. You can help by visiting the Big Red Bus at Dog Rose Brewing Co. this weekend.

🌀 Be Prepared for Hurricane Season Peak

Whether you’re a “ride it out” resident or a “pick up and go,” it can’t hurt to prep for the height of hurricane season. The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is underway, and St. Johns County Emergency Management (SJCEM) urges residents to prepare for potential storms. The 2024 Hurricane Preparedness Guide is available online and in print at local libraries. Residents can also benefit from Florida’s Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holidays, with the next one running from August 24 to September 6. 🪪 St. Johns County Hosts Passport Saturday

If you need a passport for holiday travel, St. Johns County has a special event this weekend just for you! The County Clerk’s Passport Saturday is tailored for first-time applicants, including minors, and those needing replacements for lost or outdated passports. Held at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center in St. Augustine from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., this event makes it easy and convenient for busy families to apply.

🏗️ Council on Aging Improving St. Augustine Facility

The St. Johns County Council on Aging is planning a $1.3 million project to enhance comfort and safety due to increased demand. Located at 180 Marine St., the improvements will include a new canopy, larger entry drive, ADA accessible paths, and updated outdoor spaces. Executive Director Becky Yanni mentioned the goal is to raise an additional $500,000, with Rulon International donating materials for the canopy. The COA, which runs the Sunshine Center for dementia care and prepares Meals on Wheels from this location, aims to make the center more accessible and welcoming for seniors. AD Davis Construction will handle the project, with future phases including more entrance improvements and a therapeutic garden.

👷 St. Johns County Greenlights Major Warehouse Projects

Warehouses St. Johns County has issued permits for two new warehouses. Ring Power received a permit for a $4.2 million, 26,400-square-foot warehouse at 560 World Commerce Parkway. Additionally, a $1.454 million permit was issued for a $1.454 million, 20,000-square-foot warehouse at 384 Industrial Drive, near State Road 16, owned by Ag Center Holdings LLC.

🗑️ A1A All-American Road Cleanup at Surfside Park | Aug 3, 8AM

Help keep Coastal Highway A1A beautiful by participating in the Friends of A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway quarterly roadside cleanup. Meet the team at Surfside Park at 8AM to pick-up supplies.
