With Milton headed our way later today and into tomorrow, I wanted to drop a quick line with some important information for St. Johns County residents.

Evacuation:

Mandatory evacuation orders have been given to parts of St. Johns County, including the entirety of the City of St. Augustine and City of St. Augustine Beach. Further orders could be given, so please be aware.

The following zones have been issued mandatory evacuation orders (as of the time of this email):

  • Zone A

  • Zone B

  • Part of Zone F (South of SR-206)

What does a mandatory evacuation mean?

Simply put, it means that emergency personnel and first responders will not be able to assist you in the event of an emergency. Be safe and be smart.

Shelters:

The following hurricane shelters are open today at 8:00AM in St. Johns County. If you’re looking for a cushy spot to ride out the storm, this isn’t it. But, if you’re feeling unsafe at home, here are your options:

Pet Friendly Shelter | South Woods Elementary School
4750 SR 206 West, Elkton, FL 32033

Special Needs Shelter | Freedom Crossing Academy
1365 Shetland Dr, St. Johns, FL 32259
Please note that this shelter is reserved for folks who rely on electricity for medical equipment or require oxygen therapy and is not a substitute for regular health care.
